Bill Ensuring Regulation of Temporary Staffing Agencies Passes First Policy Committee

Sacramento, CA — Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Western States Council applauded the Senate Labor Committee for passing SB 1032 (Reyes), the Staffing Agency Fair Employment Act (SAFE Act). SB 1032 creates a clear, common-sense regulatory framework for temporary staffing agencies, similar to the one already in place for contractors and other high-risk industries.

"Oversight and accountability are clearly lacking in the temporary staffing industry, leading some bad actors to take advantage. SB 1032, the SAFE Act, will put in place basic protections to ensure workers aren't misclassified and harmed. UFCW is proud to sponsor the SAFE Act and ensure the playing field is level."

Jacques Loveall, President, UFCW Local 8-Golden State
